Sunflowers at Plumper Pumpkin and Tree Farm
Here’s a quick story.
I was handed a flyer. It said, “Sunflower Festival this Sunday”. No need to say anymore – I was closed. On Sunday, I packed up my camera and headed over.
I arrived in the late afternoon. And the first thing that stuck me was which way the flowers were facing. I learned something about sunflowers that day. It is not always true that they follow the sun, as I believed. They actually like to face southeast most of the time. Sure enough, most of them were facing East, which made for lots of backlit glowing edges. I took one home, the flower head pointed at the ceiling. Today, it’s pointed southeast. I will go back again one morning.
Plumper Farm’s Sunflower Festival includes you pick sunflowers, a sunflower maze, hayrides, baby piglets, donuts and other treats. They also host a pumpkin patch. You can find out more here.
