Day 325

Christmas Clams, Gene Coulon Park

Tonight was the Tree Lighting and Christmas Boat Parade down on Lake Washington. The park looks really pretty at all lit up. In this picture, you see the Argosy Christmas boat on the left, more boats which are part of the flotilla, Ivar’s famous clams, and some park decorations. They’ve been doing the boat thing for 60 years.

I took this with my Android phone. I did not want to set up my camera and tripod for a very selfish reason: it was FREEZING tonight! Ice was forming on the wooded deck as people milled about (it was pretty crowded). The kids loved slipping and sliding on the icy surface. I was outside for two hours, and even though I was wearing gloves and wool socks, by the time I got back to my building, I could not feel my fingers or the bottom of my feet. I couldn’t even feel my keys to get into the building, so I ducked in the cafe to warm up until there was feeling again.Once I got in, it took 45 minutes of me sitting in front of the forced air heater before I was back to normal. I’ll go back and make some more photos when it’s not so crowded or cold.
