Wine bottle still life at Cafe Peyrassol, Renton WA.
One of the things I’m loving about the 365 Project is the chance for me to learn something new. Take this bottle of wine. The cafe where I found it is right downstairs from me and is named after this rose’. There’s a story that goes with it, which is told by the cafe owners Scott and Sasha here. Actually, when the winemakers found out they named the place after their wine, they gave them nearly all of their Washington allotment.
Cafe Peyrassol is a wonderful find here on the Eastside. Sasha and Scott know their stuff and it shows in the atmosphere and in the food. And they are really nice people, the whole staff.
Then there is the story about this wine before their story, which goes back 800 years. The name of this wine needs a little explanation. A commandarie is an
estate administered by a commander of an order of knights. And Peyrassol is a region in France. The story involves the Knights of Templar. The first recorded harvest took place
in 1256 and winemaking has continued uninterrupted throughout
the centuries. You can read about it here.

I haven’t had a glass of this yet, but with the right company, I look forward to it.
I’m throwin’ some love to my neighbors in this post. For a review of Cafe Payrassol go here.
