A few weeks ago, I had to go to Twentynine for a meeting. I’m now on the Joshua Tree National Park Association Art Show Commitee. This is the show where I met Eric Johnson in 1998 (is it almost ten years already?) Anyway, I stayed with our sculptor friend Mike Smiley. He and his wife Bettie have this fantastic house with a great view.
I was only there for an evening, thinking when I got there, have a nice dinner, and relax a bit. Oh no. Mike calls to let me know that we have a very full schedule, including a Chamber of Commerce mixer, dinner, and in the morning he had some art pieces to deliver to a couple of his clients. And bird watching. Then we would go to the meeting.
So much for relaxing.
That night I did get to show them Comet Holmes, which in the desert sky, was really easy to spot.
I also scouted the 29 Palms Inn for a wedding that I’m going to be shooting in May 2008. Then it was back to LA.
