Rowena Crest Hike

We took a short break from several days of working in my studio to get outside last Sunday. I was looking for a hike with wildflowers. Eric found Rowena Crest and Tom McCall areas (Managed by the Nature Conservancy). It’s located in the Columbia Gorge past Hood River. The flowers did not disappoint. It was pretty windy out there, so I kept my windbreaker on until the hike got tougher (and I got warmer.)

Apparently this is a local Must-See place because of this famous loop. I actually didn’t see or know about it until I started to write this post. Eric saw his first rattle snake on this hike. Sorry, the snake said “no pictures.” as she glided swiftly into the underbrush.

Batchelor’s Buttons blooming in the grass.

Mt. Adams peeking above the ridge.
