CF card, interior one side
A couple of months after moving to Portland, I accidentally left one of my CF cards in a pocket of some article of clothing. Now, this was not the first time this happened. However, the washing machines in LA and Seattle were of a much gentler nature: in each case, I was able to locate the card intact, let it dry out and it worked. Not so with this Portland washer. It is a very violent washing machine. It was a backup card.
Anyway, I knew there was trouble when I opened the unit to move the clothes when several little plastic pieces fell out. I was rather shocked. I tried to locate as many pieces I could find, but only found three. Then for the next wash, I heard a horrible sound, like broken glass being ground up in a blender. I thought I might’ve wrecked the machine. Well, the next wash, the noise wasn’ t there. So I stopped being concerned. Today, an error message showed up on the washer, and this is what the maintenence man found in the drain. If it does this to metal and plastic, I can only imagine what it’s doing to my clothes!
There’s a lot of technology in those cards. I can’t even imagine what the inside of an SD card looks like.
