Handmade Pasta

I found out about an Italian home cooked dinner being planned in our
community center. Since I’m such a foodie, I offered to photograph the event. This dinner was a rustic style dinner which involved
hours and hours of prep and was Italian to boot: I knew it would be fun to
shoot.

The dinner was for some friends of the cook, my
neighbor Daniele. I knew the other man Arturo from The Meadow, a
chocolate/wine/salt/flower shop across the street (I go there
often…for the salt…and the chocolate. Mostly for the chocolate.). Arturo and Daniele only recently met, but became fast friends especially since they are both Italian.

This was a multi-course affair so you will see a lot of food. I
took some photos of the dinner and the guests. But the story was in the
kitchen. It was clear that they worked together well. Listening to
Arturo and Daniele discussing how things were progressing as
they cooked, they spoke in Italian. They were calm, collected and so talented. Everything was
made from scratch, including the breads.

Italian spritzers made with Campari, soda and other tasty ingredients.

Daniele making the tagliatelle. I didn’t have any although I know it was good. There were no leftovers!

A veal dish gets some parsley.

Arturo holds another lovely dish – going to the table.

 Fried apples for dessert

Biscotti going ack into the over for a toast.
