Icicles, Historic Columbia River Highway, near Corbett, OR.

This was the fifth day of below freezing temperatures. The forecast is that rain (blessed rain!) is on the way. If I had any chance of getting cool images, today was going to be the day. I got up to Rocky Butte this morning, thinking I was properly dressed (hat, ski jacket over three layers, longjohns, gloves, a pair of wool socks), but the wind showed my how pitiful my effort was: it was 21 degrees/felt like 7! DAMN was it cold. I made some images from there, which didn’t amount to much. But I felt that I should go East to the Gorge and maybe get some images at the Sandy River. THIS time out, I had TWO pair of wool socks, my long down jacket, and a scarf for my face. Just those three changes made all the difference. In the Gorge the wind is much stronger, but I stayed somewhat comfortable. I didn’t get anything much from that visit, either. I had time to run over to Oxbow Regional Park. Only 5 minutes down the road and I saw these frozen icicles. I came home quite satisfied.
