Day 104

I had bought two tickets for the Woodland Park Zoo back in October. I finally got to use them today. It was gorgeous, sunny AND warm. It was a ‘zoo’; when it gets sunny here, every outdoor location fills with people who have been awaiting a proper sunny day since…October? It was a zoo-going, motorcycle-riding, park-picnicking, boat-sailing, shorts-wearing, windows-down driving, al fresco dining kind of day.

My kind of day.

We waded through the throngs of families and strollers to do our best to see the exhibits. Some we got to, some were just too much trouble. We watched these flamingos for a while, mostly because of how funny they look when they turn their heads (side to side) to see what was going on. It must have been mating season, because all of a sudden, a group of them broke into this honking and wing display. First time I’d ever seen this! They did it several times, standing for a while, walking around, stretching one wing and one leg at the same time, then going into display. It was pretty cool!
