Easter Egg Decorating, Portland OR.
I was invited to a friend’s house this morning to hand decorate Easter Eggs. We used a Northern European method of hot wax and dyes (note the candles). The wax is applied with a tool filled with hot wax warmed by the candle. Then the piece is dipped in natural dyes, allowed to dry, then the wax is warmed and wiped off to reveal the pattern that was not affected by the dye. These are just eggshells.
There were so many gorgeous eggs, I could not get them all! However, two of us picked a similar theme and colors. The image above shows both eggs. It was quite relaxing and labor intensive (unless you were a pro, in which case you made a lot of eggs)
